The Westminster Community
We are ever mindful of our charge to create a school where Jesus Christ is pre-eminent and where loving, God-fearing educators equip our children to develop their God-given talents to the fullest. Our success in that endeavor is directly related to our ability to work as a community of believers. In Ephesians 4, Paul writes: “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” And: “speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

The Westminster Community grows strong as we focus upon:

  • /files/WCA/Students/lockerboys.jpgPrayer: We ask for your prayer support throughout each school year. Two parent groups currently meet regularly to pray for the school: “Moms-In-Touch” and also a group of Westminster fathers.
  • Time and Talents: Do you have a special talent or area of expertise you can share in the classroom? Join a committee and you can add to the many school-wide family events and field trips planned for each school year.
  • Contributions: Westminster solicits support from the community, as well as from family and friends, for its annual operating fund, as well as for individual fundraising projects throughout the year. Our biggest fundraiser is the fall dinner and auction, where items donated by individuals, businesses and members of the Westminster community are auctioned off to raise money for the school. If you have contacts that will facilitate financial contributions or donation of items the school may need, please let us know.
  • Governance: A key to the spiritual unity of the school are our governance policies. The school will not take the place of the home or the church, but will honor the spheres of sovereignty of home, church and school. As there are levels of authority in the home and the church, there are levels of authority within the school which are respected by parents, students, teachers and the church. Westminster Christian Academy is a ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church. Our board is accountable spiritually and fiscally to the Session of the Church. The Principal is the head of the school and is responsible for daily operating policies and procedures, reporting directly to the Board. Our faculty is responsible for the teaching and activities within their classroom and report directly to the Principal. Parents are responsible for their children. Any suggestions or problems should be discussed directly with the child’s teacher. If issues are unable to be resolved with the teacher, the parent should consult with the Principal.
