Dress Code Policy (Grades 7-12)
SCHOOL DRESS CODE
All students will adhere to the prescribed dress policy. Students will keep their hair neat, clean, well groomed, and in traditional styles. Boys will keep hair moderate in length and style. Length in front should not hamper vision, sides should not cover the lower part of the ear, and the back should be no longer than the top of the shirt collar. No mohawk or faux-hawk hair styles will be allowed. Boys are not allowed to have facial hair. Students are not allowed to wear sunglasses in the building. No scarves, leg warmers or flip-flops will be allowed. The student’s belt must fit belt loops on the pants. No long sleeve shirts are allowed to be worn under short sleeve polo shirts. Long sleeve polo shirts may be worn. White or gray tee shirts can be worn under polo shirts. No writing should be visible through the polo. In addition to shirts being tucked in, pants must be worn at the waist line. Students may wear school-issued sweatshirts or jackets that are consistent with school colors and approved by athletic department or administration. Students are not allowed to have body piercing or tattoos of any kind. Boys may not wear earrings.
To ensure that a student is following the WCA Dress Code Policy, it is strongly recommended that clothing items be purchased from one of the following approved vendors: Land’s End, Parker Uniforms, Dennis Uniforms, or FrenchToast.com. When ordering, please indicate
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY STUDENT DRESS CODE
Students attending or visiting the campus after school dismissal and on weekends will be required to dress according to the following expectations:
1. All students should dress modestly and appropriately.
2. Do not wear short shorts, cut-off jeans, or any attire which is tight and revealing such as halter tops, tank tops, tight t-shirts, spandex, or slacks which are tight fitting.
3. Do not wear shirts with offensive words or graphics or advertisements, which are in conflict with the values of WCA.
4. Boys are never to be shirtless.
5. When attending awards ceremonies or other public meetings, boys should wear slacks and collared shirts. Girls should wear slacks or a skirt with a blouse, or a dress. No short or tight fitting skirts, dresses or tops. Skirt and dress length should be no less than two inches above the knee when seated. All tops should have sleeves with a neckline no lower than three inches.
GIRLS UNIFORM (GRADES 7-8)
· Polo Shirts: short or long sleeve, no more than 6 buttons, solid color, no logos, must be long enough to be tucked into the pants/shorts/skirt/skort
· Pants/Shorts (navy or khaki); shorts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee when seated
· Skort/Skirt (navy, khaki, or plaid); must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee when seated
LADIES UNIFORM (GRADES 9-12)
· Polo Shirts: short or long sleeve, no more than 6 buttons, solid color, no logos, must be long enough to be tucked into the pants/shorts/skirt/skort
· Long Sleeve Oxford Shirt (white or light blue), no logos, must be long enough to be tucked into the pants/shorts/skirt/skort
· Pants/Shorts (navy or khaki); shorts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee when seated
· Skort/Skirt (navy, khaki, or plaid); must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee when seated
· Capri/Cropped pants (navy or khaki)
· Rugby Long Sleeve Shirt (white/blue) (must be purchased at Parker Uniforms)
BOYS UNIFORM (GRADES 7-8)
· Polo Shirts: short or long sleeve, 2 or 3 buttons, solid color, no logos, must be long enough to be tucked into the pants/shorts/skirt/skort
· Pants/Shorts (navy or khaki)
GENTLEMEN REQUIRED UNIFORM (GRADES 9-12)
· Polo Shirts: short or long sleeve, 2 or 3 buttons, solid color, no logos, must be long enough to be tucked into the pants/shorts/skirt/skort
· Long Sleeve Oxford Shirt (white or light blue), no logos, must be long enough to be tucked into the pants/shorts/skirt/skort
· Pants/Shorts (navy or khaki)
· Rugby Long Sleeve Shirt (white/blue) (must be purchased at Parker Uniforms)
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
· Shirts – all shirts must be worn modestly; students may have no more than 2 buttons unbuttoned at the top of their shirt; all shirts must be long enough to be tucked in to the top of the pants/shorts/skirt/skort
· Pants/Shorts – must be traditional uniform-style (no cargo pockets), must have belt loops and be worn with a belt
· Shorts/Skirts/Skorts – must be no shorter than 2 inches above the kneecap and no longer than the bottom of the kneecap
· Undershirts – must be white or gray, with no words/graphics; a short-sleeved undershirt should be worn under a short-sleeve polo shirt (no layering)
· Sweaters – navy blue and must contain the embroidered school logo
· Sweatshirts/jackets – WCA sweatshirts and jackets may be worn during the school day; all other jackets/sweatshirts must be in the student’s locker after arriving at school
· Shoes – athletic or uniform shoes appropriate for school, must be closed-toe (no sandals or flip-flops)
· Socks must be worn at all times; socks, tights, and leggings must be navy, white, or black; Leggings must be ankle-length and worn with socks
· Belt – a plain, traditional belt must be worn with a belt buckle in black, brown, or navy
· Spirit Day – will be scheduled by the administration; students will be allowed to wear a school t-shirt and jeans; jeans must be neat and appropriate (not too tight or baggy, frayed, contain holes or writing); shirts must be tucked in and a belt must be worn.
